A new technology has been developed for the production of Trichoderma formulation using choir pith. The low-cost product has a long shelf life of 10 months and high level of population of Trichoderma. Through a simple activation process of dried cake, luxurious growth of Trichoderma covering the entire product could be obtained. Another Trichoderma formulation was developed using vermicompost following the above technology with slight modification. A slow pesticide release product was also developed using choir pith. Field evalution of this product for the management of bud rot disease of coconut is in progress. Shelf life of the pesticide incorporated in the slow release product is also being evaluated.
