About the Coconut Market Information Center (CMIC)
The Coconut Market Information Center (CMIC) is a new online service that is dedicated to providing information and other resources to the Coconut sector in North Sulawesi, with the main goal of enhancing production and market potential. The CMIC also offers domestic and international buyers or investors the ability to become more familiar with the supply of coconut products from the region and the opportunities that this represents.
The CMIC is in its first phase of development, and will continue to grow and provide access to an expanding collection of information in order to fulfill these objectives. Future enhancements to the CMIC will provide small businesses, government and stakeholder organizations, and farmers improved access to the information and marketing services needed to improve and expand the coconut community.

The CMIC is was developed with the support of the Canada Indonesia Private Sector Enterprise Development (CIPSED) project, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

North Sulawesi exports 1,800 tons of COPRA to Philippines

Manado, North Sulawesi (ANTARA News) – North Sulawesi province exported 1,800 tons of copra to the Philippines early this month.

“The exports to the Philippines produced 1.44 million US dollars, and had been a golden opportunity for the coconut growers,” head of the N Sulawesi industrial and trade agency Sanny Parengkuan said here Wednesday.

INDONESIA LAUNCHES VITAMIN A FORTIFIED OIL CAMPAIGN

The Global Alliances for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) has launched a “major multi-sector partnership” to provide vitamin A fortified vegetable oil to 80 percent of Indonesia’s 230 million inhabitants. The alliance includes the Indonesian Nutrition Foundation for Food Fortification Development (KFI), vegetable oil producers, and the Vice Ministers for Agriculture, Industry & Trad and Education and the Vice Minister of National Planning Agency.

The program aims to address stunted growth which affects 40 percent of Indonesian schoolchildren are vitamin A deficient. GAIN said the grant would allow the oil industry to buy the vitamins and minerals from BASF which had become the chosen supplier after winning a tender process for the installment of the program.
